Covers for Siri
In 2010, art director Lisa Fyfe commissioned me for a Siri Hustvedt cover to be published by Picador. The book was titled The Summer Without Men and Lisa already had an idea for the art based on a piece I had done for the New York Times column Modern Love a year prior. The art was picked up by the UK, Dutch and a Norwegian publisher named Aschehoug. Editor In Chief Gunn Reinertsen Næss at Aschehoug eventually hired me to create art for all of Siri’s books as a paperback series. Art Directed by Tine Poppe in Oslo.

translation: The Enchantment of Lily Dahl and What I Loved.

translation: Sorrows of An American and The Blindfold.

translation: The Summer Without Men.
And below is the UK The Summer Without Men cover. It was great to have the art picked up by various regions. Siri’s mother is from Norway though Siri was born and raised in Minnesota.

And lastly the art for Modern Love that inspired the original cover.

It was great working on the original cover and later the paper back series. Funny how one piece of art can spark so many other opportunities.
