Eat The City
I recently worked with Random House to design a book jacket, map and chapter headers for Robin Shulman’s Eat The City. I had a great time working with Art Director Christopher Brand on the jacket and Elizabeth Rendfleisch on the interiors. Anyone interested in New York’s local food movement and it’s historical origins should read this book.
“Shulman’s brilliant, transformative book weaves history, journalism, and storytelling into a secret atlas of New York… A profound, surprising, and exquisitely written exploration of how food and its makers, even in the unlikeliest places, keep all of us human.”
– Annia Ciezadlo, author of Day of Honey
Listen to Robin discuss her book with Brian Lehrer on NPR.
For the interior, I made a small drawing for each of the chapter heads in the book…
as well as a map that marks various locations mentioned in the book.
Here are a few early cover explorations before arriving at the final cover.
Thanks for the great assignment.
Robin, best of luck with your new book!
